Meet the founder

Maja
Founder of SAFO
Copenhagen, Denmark
I’m a queer woman living in Copenhagen, and SAFO started from a simple frustration: our communities already exist everywhere, but finding them can be surprisingly difficult.
I love travelling, and every new city made that fragmentation even more obvious. You can arrive somewhere with an incredible queer community and still have no idea where to find it unless you already know where to look.
I started SAFO to bring those connections together — not to replace the communities already doing the work, but to make them easier to discover, wherever you are.
Today, I’m building SAFO independently and working directly with queer organisations, organisers, venues and cultural projects around the world.
Read my story“I didn't build SAFO because the queer community was missing. I built it because so much of it was already there — but too difficult to find.”
