SAFO is heading to Web Summit Lisbon 2026 💜

We’re excited to share an important milestone in SAFO’s journey: SAFO will be attending Web Summit Lisbon 2026 and we have been selected as an Impact Startup.

For a young platform with a global vision, this is an exciting opportunity to bring SAFO and the community we are building to one of the world’s major technology conferences.

Why SAFO exists

Queer women are everywhere, but our communities and resources are often fragmented.

Dating apps help people date. Facebook groups connect individual communities. Instagram helps us discover creators and organisations. Event platforms list things happening nearby. Travel resources help us search for queer-friendly spaces.

But finding people, community, events, places and reliable queer knowledge can still mean moving between multiple platforms.

SAFO was created to bring these experiences closer together.

We are building a global community platform for queer women where members can connect with others, discover events and queer-friendly places, explore destinations, and access community-focused knowledge and resources.

SAFO is not another dating app.

Our vision is bigger: to create a digital home for queer women wherever they are in the world.

SAFO selected as an Impact Startup

Being selected as an Impact Startup for Web Summit Lisbon 2026 is an important milestone for us.

SAFO’s mission has always been about more than technology. It is about visibility, access to community, discovering safer and more welcoming spaces, sharing knowledge, and making it easier for queer women to find connection wherever they live or travel.

Taking that mission to Web Summit gives us an opportunity to introduce SAFO to a global technology audience and meet people and organisations who may become part of the next stage of our journey.

What we’re looking forward to in Lisbon

Web Summit will give us the opportunity to meet founders, technology leaders, potential partners, investors, media and organisations from around the world.

For SAFO, however, growth is not simply about making the platform bigger.

We want to build partnerships that can make the platform more useful for the community - from queer organisations and event organisers to venues, creators and other projects supporting LGBTQ+ communities.

And we want to listen.

SAFO is still growing, and feedback from our early community is helping shape what the platform becomes.

Every new member, every piece of feedback, every organisation that joins us and every queer-friendly place or event discovered through SAFO helps us move closer to the community we want to build.
