The Death and Life of Marsha P. Johnson

David France's 2017 documentary, 'The Death and Life of Marsha P. Johnson,' delves into the life and mysterious death of Marsha P. Johnson, an iconic figure in LGBTQ+ history. The film follows activist Victoria Cruz as she re-examines the circumstances surrounding Johnson's passing in 1992, which was controversially ruled a suicide despite community suspicions. Marsha P. Johnson was a pioneering transgender woman of color, a veteran of the Stonewall uprising, and a co-founder of STAR (Street Transvestite Action Revolutionaries), dedicating her life to advocating for the rights of trans people and homeless youth.
