Real Queer America

In "Real Queer America," trans writer Samantha Leigh Allen takes readers on an insightful non-fiction road trip across the United States. Published in 2019, this book delves into the lives of LGBTQ+ individuals residing in often-misunderstood "red" states, particularly in the Middle West. Allen explores the diverse experiences, social conditions, and vibrant cultures of gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender people. She challenges prevailing stereotypes, illustrating how resilient and interconnected queer communities are, even in areas typically perceived as less accepting.
