A Vida Invisível

From Brazilian director Karim Aïnouz, The Invisible Life is a powerful 2019 drama that was lauded at Cannes. Set in 1950s Rio de Janeiro, the film portrays the intertwined yet tragically separated lives of two sisters, Guida and Eurídice. Each believes the other is living a fulfilling life far away, unaware of the patriarchal forces that conspired to keep them apart. As they navigate their vastly different realities, the film masterfully explores themes of yearning, resilience, and the unfulfilled desires of women in a restrictive society.
